Porch renovation - Week 6-7 (Jul 9-20)

Week 7 say the porch project pretty much reach conclusion. There are a few, very few, details left to be done, but it is basically complete. All that remains is painting it (uggh)

Here's the final view of the house from the east. The extra ungodly rails floating above the normal railing are there to meet the building code which requires truly rediculous heights to keep ever bozo in the world perfectly safe. Bah!
Same thing, from the front
And again, from the west. At the lower right of the picture is an access door for under the porch. Even though the under sides of the porch don't appear to be ventelated (a major bad thing), they are thanks to a series of clever, tiny shims between each clapboard. You reall can't see them (even up pretty close), but they let air in. A screen installed behind them should keep most fauna out.
This is a view of the porch at night and we're pretty psyched with it. The columns are lit via low volt lighting we put on late in the project and the main porch is lit with the coach light near the door (which has been on the house for a few years). There are two overhead lights too, but right now, they just have naked bulbs in them - the fixtures are still on order.

East side of house while divider band was torn off. Part of the work was to take the old divider board off, install a drip edge under the shigles and replace the board. There had been a drip edge originally, but when the aluminum siding was installed, they hacked it off.
