Construction Week 25 (May 1-May 5)

This week was mostly about staining and furniture. After a great deal of prep work, the staid started going up on the walls. It's pretty dark, but it looks great! We also received our Morris chairs which, on arrival, promptly went to the upholsters. We're also doing the tile layout one last time to take into considerations the final "as built" house. The fireplace got a bit taller, but most things pretty much ended up as we expected. Finally, the dumpster for the porch project showed up - work should be starting next week on that.

This is the south west corner of the dining room. We haven't shown a lot of photos here because it's not too interesting. The big change here was that the middle door is new (it accesses the basement - that used to be in the kitchen) and that the rightmost door used to be an arched door with no wood trim on it.
This is the north west corner of the living room. More than any other spot, this really shows what things are going to look like when done.
This shows the north wall of the living room. The north most book case is done and again, this gives a good idea. Be sure to click on these to see larger images (as always) because it's tough to see the wood grain otherwise
This is a shot of the north face of the screen wall. It looks odd becuase they've stained some of it and not the rest, but again, looks pretty cool.
This is what the entryway will look like. It's not set yete, but this is the final config. We're hoping to have the tile set in about two weeks
Here's a view from above that shows a bit more of what the pattern looks like.
This is the fireplace hearth viewed from the north. The tiles don't quite all fit yet - the floor still needs to be cut back some before the installation.
Same hearth, seen from the south
This is what the face of the fireplace is going to look like. There is some parallax in the image here - rest assured it's entirely rectangular.

We recently received the Morris chairs (bent arm, slat sided) in. The still need upholstering (actually, these shots were taken at the upholsters). They should be ready by the time the floor is complete (we hope)
