Construction Week 18 (Mar 12-17)

The study has been brought pretty close to completion in the last two weeks. The trim on the walls, windows and window seat are complete. Still left to complete in the study is the cover to the window seat, the book cases and the top cap to the wainscoting and the back band for the window/door trim.

In addition, the dining room windows have been trimmed out as well as the interior doorframes leading from the dining room to the kitchen, basement and bathroom. The base trim has been installed in almost all the dinning room. All that is left (trim wise) for the dining room is hanging the basement door, fixing the hole near the basement where the heating duct used to be and covering in the base trim there.

Not much has happened in the living room. The windows are partially trimmed out, but can't be completed until the door is installed (hopefully, next week - we've had it sitting finished in the house for two weeks). We've finally also had a break on the fireplace. For the last 6 weeks, we've been unable to get it certified/inspected because our HVAC contractor won't put his name on it. I wish he'd realize it's not 1960 anymore - these things are perfectly safe, but.... Once that is inspected, work around the fireplace (book cases, window trim, last set of columns on the screen wall) should be doable.

This week marked the entry in budget worry zone. We are already two weeks past the original estimated completion date. The estimate for end of March seems unlikely too (beyond all the above, the exterior front trim will need to be done once the door is installed and the angle brackets for the roof still need to be installed). Hour wise, we are already 100 hours over the original estimates. The prospects for doing the front porch add on project seem to be dimming...

This is a view of the space taken from the kitchen. You can see the screen wall a bit letter and on the left, can see the study and closet doors are trimmed out.
This is looking into the study from the living room. You get a sense of what the study will look like from the living room, another view of the door trim and the start of the area where the touch screen will be installed.
This is a view of the north west corner of the study. You can see the window seat, the trimmed out window, the wainscoting and a bit of the trimmed out west windows
This is the north east view of the study. Again, the detail of the window seat and the wall wainscoting.
This is a view of the south east of the study. You can see the door trim and the wainscoting. Where the trim on the wall ends is there the book cases start (they'll be built off site and installed later).
