Construction Week 5 (Dec 11-17)
This week has been a bad one. We started the week with 15+" of snow on Monday evening, followed by more snow all week long (culminating with another 6 inches on Sunday - nearly 20+" for the week). As a result, progress was slow. No one could do much of anything on Tuesday and the rest of the week was fights with the weather. Still, here are some highlights for the week:
- Railings were installed on the new exterior rear staircase
- Sheathing was applied to the screen wall framing and the wall was secured to the floor
- Replacement windows for the dining room, east living room and west study windows were installed
- The soffit over the window seat was roughed in
- The 2nd floor electrical re-work is complete. The old second floor fuse panel is both inactive and removed. There is little/no knob and tube wiring on the 2nd floor (one small run to the back porch light remains - I just can't get to it without tearing up the ceiling in the hallway - I'll handle it when we do the back of the house). All the old circuits have been deactivated and, when possible, removed.
- The office is complete - mostly. The ceiling and walls were painted and short of window dressings, it's done. We also replaced the ceiling light fixture.
Here are some photos illustrating this weeks work (click for larger pictures):
