This is the start of the bumpout framing. First step was sistering the joists to hold the framing into the existing kitchen floor joists (the bumpout will be cantilevered from the house itself). |
This is a pretty cool sight -- the entire wall of the kitchen was taken out (and the old back/south wall inside as well) in preparation for the new walls. |
Framing of the bumpout is complete. Like the addition on the back, it's already better insulated than the rest of the house (and it has no interior insulation -- just the Tyvek is enough). |
Interior view of the bumpout space. The header up top is where the old kitchen wall used to be. |
View of the interior looking south east. You can see some of the bump out, and the breakfast booth space. With these windows, it's going to look great! |
South wall of the mudroom and entrance. Entrance is covered in a board, but you can see it's recessed into the house. |
View of the west side of the mudroom. You can see the framing for the closet as well as the a small wall where the bench is going to be (at the bottom of the stairs). |
They spent the last part of the week putting up clapboards and corner trim as well as installing roofing. It's about 85% done in this picture (rest is completed next week). |
Another shot of the nearly done exterior siding. It's starting to look like a house! Though we're still pretty far away from being done. |
Bathroom space, looking toward the north west corner where the shower will be. The gray thing midway up the wall is one of the two forms for the niches in the shower. |
A bit more on the rough framing for the vanity. Even some initial plumbing -- how exciting! |
The wall seperating the old bathroom from the new is now completely gone. What's holding up that incredibly heavy pipe is what I'm asking.... |
