View of the east and rear of the house. This was taken in the brief period between when I thought porch ballisters should be terra-cotta and before I came to my senses and went with green |
Kitchen, looking into the dinign room. The door here is about to slide east (to the right in this pic, more toward the middle of the room) |
West wall cabinets. We're actually hanging on to the base cabinet for the future workshop (in the new basement) |
This hallway on the second floor is going to look quite a bit different. There will be only one door (instead of the 2 doors and wood access hatch at the top of the stairs) and even that one door is going to slide down a little for the new bathroom sink/vanity. |
Existing bathroom. It's only about 4 feet wide and that plastic curtain is over a small, short shower. The brick is the actual chimney for the house. Ugly! |
This is a small "bedroom" that is probably 10 feet square. We never really did much with it -- it's alternately been a study, storage space, for 18 months it was an office two employees worked in. It will be the main part of the new bathroom (the old bathroom is on the otherside of this wall) |
Closet in the little bedroom. The front part of the closet is going to be subsumed into the shower stall and an access to the closet will be opened into our bedroom. |
The south basement wall is going to be removed because there is new basement back there. This is very good news as the south basement wall is about ready to fall in. |
You can see the door to the exterior here. This door seems to have been added to the house in the late 40s, back when the house had was three apartments (the basement was the 3rd). Pics we have from the early 1930s clearly show there was no basement door originally. |
